There is water on Mike's left hand because he asked if he could wash his hands before I made this image of him holding his "favorite book." While shooting an image of his hands being even dirtier might have made for a better photo, I felt it was important to not treat him differently than any other photo subject I was covering that might have made a similar request. This image was taken near dusk and I believe the exposure was around 20 or 30 seconds on a lightweight tripod I carry with me. Basically, I have to post one black & white photo for five days in a celebration of black & white photography, and then I have to nominate another photographer to take part each day.
