Chinese Lion Dancers Can Take Your San Francisco Wedding Reception To Another Level!

© Photo by Steve Keegan 2014, All Rights Reserved. My day 4 offering for the Black & White Photo Challenge is this detail shot I took while working on a photo story of a homeless man named Mike Burgess about 15 years ago. There is water on Mike's left hand because he asked if he could wash his hands before I made this image of him holding his "favorite book." While shooting an image of his hands being even dirtier might have made for a better photo, I felt it was important to not treat him differently than any other photo subject I was covering that might have made a similar request. The fact that you can still see how dirty and weathered his hands look even after they've been ...

Chinese Lion Dancers Can Take Your San Francisco Wedding Reception To Another Level!

© Photo By Steve Keegan, 2014—All Rights Reserved.Accepting the Black & White Challenge: Day 3For today's image, I decided to show a picture that I have never shown publicly before that I shot for myself about 10 years ago. This is an elephant at the Santa Barbara Zoo, which was one of my favorite places to take my daughter Bridget when she was a baby. This was shot on T-Max 3200 film and pulled to 800 ISO using a special developing technique I learned in college to give it that hard grain, ultra-contrasty look. If you missed any of my earlier blog posts about what the Black & White Challenge is, you can read about it here. For Day 3, I nominate Brian Prince. ...

Chinese Lion Dancers Can Take Your San Francisco Wedding Reception To Another Level!

© Photo by Steve Keegan 2014, All Rights Reserved. For Day 2 of the Black & White Photo Challenge, I have chosen this image I took of water dancing around the rocks of the Truckee River. This image was taken near dusk and I believe the exposure was around 20 or 30 seconds on a lightweight tripod I carry with me. The muted colors of rock and water lend themselves nicely to the monochromatic nature of black & white.Just to recap from my first post about what the Black & White Challenge is, somebody nominates you to post one black & white image each day for five days in a celebration of black & white images, and each day you are supposed to nominate a different ...

Reno Street Food is a Great Place to Shop for a Food Truck!
Saturday, December 06, 2014

Just to follow up on a recent blog post, here is a YouTube video that illustrates what I am talking about regarding the food truck revolution that is going on right now. These are getting so huge at weddings and you can sample them at the Reno Street Food event that runs from May through October. I noticed in the video that Burger Me has a truck there. Wow! All I can say is wow. If you have not had a Burger Me burger yet, you need to try it. My favorite is one with a fried egg on top and bacon. As I'm typing this, my mouth is beginning to water just thinking about it. Burger Me uses all grass-fed, hormone-free, local beef and you can taste the difference. They also have a gluten-free ...
