With the popularity of gourmet food trucks on the rise, so is the trend of using them at weddings.

Is there anything better after a night of partying than an In-N-Out Burger or an authentic taco off a taco truck? I submit that there is not! I remember walking out of the bars of Sunset Boulevard in my 20s after a night of drinking, and all I wanted to eat was one of those hot dogs the street vendors were cooking with bacon and grilled onions wrapped around it. It was the most appetizing aroma you could imagine and at that moment, there was nothing on the planet I would rather eat.

Can you imagine what a hero you would be if at 9 or 10 p.m. an In-N-Out Burger truck rolled up on your party? Wow. What a way to finish things off!

Beyond using In-N-Out, Baskin Robbins and other casual food trucks you could hire, you now can get these trucks to serve up the main course in gourmet style. Every kind of gourmet food imaginable is now being offered in these mobile kitchens—from Brazilian, to Mandarin, to French and back home to good ol' American-style BBQ.

There are a lot of great choices in both the Bay Area and Reno/Tahoe markets. I shot no less than four weddings this summer where all the food came from food trucks and it was all amazing! There are even gourmet food truck festivals you can attend now, which make it so easy to try a myriad of potential cullinary offerings all at one time.

This idea is particularly a game changer if you are thinking of choosing a venue that does not have a professional kitchen or for areas that might be remote, such as the middle of a field, forest or beach. It also creates another place for people to congregate, so if your venue is small, here's a potential way to expand your space.

Although it may seem a bit casual for a wedding at first glance, I can assure you that was the furthest thing from everybody's mind at the weddings I attended where they tried this. Everybody seemed to find it extremely fun and refreshing.
