I had been looking for a new, light, inconspicuous, Micro FourThirds format camera for doing documentary street and wedding photography when I saw legendary Magnum and National Geographic photographer David Alan Harvey recommend this little beauty—a Panasonic Lumix GX7.

Panasonic is not the first company I think of when I think of professional still photography equipment, but this little digital camera with a rangefinder-like feel seems like the real deal. Best of all, this format accepts some lenses made by Zeiss and Leica. It's also twice the resolution of an iPhone at 16mp, which is a pretty nice size file for most applications.

The kit I purchased it in comes with a 20mm, 1.7 aspherical lens, which is super fast and a good focal length for everyday street photography.

I love that you can look straight down into the viewfinder to make the subject less aware of you as you shoot. A wonderful feature and it is so bright and clear looking through the camera.

The camera is also mirrorless, which makes all the functions on it super smooth and quiet.

I'm pretty excited! I will post images and report back as soon as I play with it.
